Happy Valentine's Day!!

We have had a great Valentine's Day weekend so far. Friday when I came home from work, Grant had arranged for Ryan and Jenny to babysit and I had two options for dinner! Not only that but he let me take a nap before we went out so I would not be tired. My sweet valentine! I choose to eat at a wonderful Italian restaurant here in town that my friend Karen got engaged at and it was wonderful. We sat upstairs in the corner, there was candle light, and not too many people, just what I like. Grant and Emory also got me some balloons which Emory loves.Emory was making kissy faces at Bob the tomato.Giving kisses to her baby doll.Saturday morning, Grant had class so Emory and I ran an errand and met him back at the house afterwards. When she woke up we went to the Arboretum. It was a little windy and chilly, but it was so nice to be outside again.
Walking with daddy is one of Emory's favorite things to do.On our way home!We grabbed some dinner and went back to the house. Emory was just silly around the house. I guess she loves Valentine's Day!

Look Out Pebbles...

We started our music class again and Emory is having a wonderful time. I had some inspiration when I met a little 9 month old girl who had less hair than Emory and was sporting a bow. Surely if she can do it then so can we! We were at our friends house having dinner and we put one of their daughter's bows in Emory's hair and to my surprise it stuck. We went and got Emory her own bows and she doesn't seem bothered by them at all. I guess it turns out that we have a bow wearing little girl!It was an AMAZING day here today! Emory and I had some errands to run, but luckily for us our mall has a beautiful outdoor area right in the middle. We took a break and spent time out there. She was not happy to get back in the stroller, but on the way home we met aunt Jenny at a neighborhood park for a swing.

A Bunch of Firsts...

Emory has been such a busy little bee!! We have been experiencing a bunch of "firsts" around the Dess household and it has been so much fun. It seems like she is growing up way too fast and learning new things daily.

Here is our first trip to the Dallas Aquarium. We meet our friends the Cooley's for the morning and the it was a lot of fun. Emory enjoyed spending they day with Grant and seeing all the fish. It was a great place and we will have to go back soon! It got me on a kick to take advantage of the things Dallas has to offer.

Here is the first (I am sure of many to come!) picture of Emory's messy morning hair. I like this picture because it also proves that she does in fact have hair! We are probably going to have to deal with the mullet-ish style that it seems to be growing in as, but for right now I could not be more pleased. Pig-tails here we come!!!

Another first that Emory has experienced lately is... opening doors. We are doomed! She is a free woman now that she can get into any room that she wants. She pulls the handle, pushes the door and in she goes.

This past Sunday, we went to our friends the Cooley's house for Emory's first super bowl. Emory loves being around Carson. The kids had so much fun keeping tabs on what the other was doing. Emory really had fun with all of Carson's toys, especially his pick up truck. They were rarely in the car at the same time, so here is one of the few pictures together. Carson's super cool aunt Hailey started playing a game of screaming while running down the hall, while Emory could not fully participate she enjoyed it just as much. The most exciting first that has been going on is Emory's first steps!!! I doubted this day would come but Emory is getting more courageous about walking around our house. She still prefers to crawl because she can go so much faster but she will be running in no time.

Emory is not the only person who has big first occasions lately. Emory wants to tell Daddy how proud she is of him for being the top sales person of 2008 at his job. Good job Daddy, we love you very, very much!

Rock Star!!!

Who knew that our little girl would have such amazing talent! I know that I am biased, but she can carry a tune like no other 13 month old. Just listen to Emory sing in the microphone, you will agree with me that she is fantastic. I am thinking of a daddy-daughter duet after seeing this.

Ok, so maybe she can only hit one note, but she really has that note. Thanks to uncle Ryan and aunt Jenny for the toy she plays with it all the time. Unfortunately, Emory also lets us know when she is done with her toys, like at the end of this video.

Emory is quickly becoming a little girl. Still no walking, but we are close. She still seems to little to be walking! She says dadda, momma, baby, bread, and still barks when she sees a puppy, hears a puppy or finds her puppy stuffed animal. She also knows what a monkey says and occasionally can say moo for a cow. She loves brushing her teeth and climbing on the couch. She started feeding a bottle to her baby last week and I was so impressed. We are having so much fun seeing what she learns to do.

Rocking Horse...

Grandpa Zimmerman had a special surprise for Emory this Christmas... a rocking horse he had made just for her!! I forgot that all the pictures were on my other camera. She has been having so much fun riding it and rocking it back and forth.

Just listen to the excitement!

Here are some of the recent dance moves that Emory has perfected.

Playtime...

This past week Emory and I met Kristi and Carson at a local play area. Even though Emory is not walking yet she had a blast crawling around with the big kids. Emory was a tunnel hog! She kept going back and forth, other kids would look in and she would go through it again. Poor Carson just had to sit and watch until Emory was done. Thanks for meeting us you guys!

"Is she done yet?!?"

Merry Christmas... Round Two!!

Sorry the Christmas posts have taken so long, our computer stopped working for about a week and I was not able to do anything. So even though it's mid January here is more about Christmas.
Grandpa and Grandma Zimmerman came down on New Years Eve to celebrate Christmas with us and Emory was so happy to see them (and their dog Ruby). For Christmas, aunt Jenny got a corncob hat from my parents. Out of respect for Jenny I will not put a picture of her in the hat on the blog, so here is Emmy wearing it.
Emmy helping Grandma Zimmerman do the laundry.
Grandpa and Grandma Zimmerman got Emmy an amazing wagon for Christmas. The weather was beautiful (why wouldn't it be in the 70's in December?) so we all went for a walk to the park.
Ruby and Emmy riding in the wagon together. This didn't last long! On a side note, Emmy is still barking from having Ruby here.
The neighborhood kids had a skate board ramp on the sidewalk and we thought... why not!
Thanks for everything Grandpa and Grandma Z! We had a great time and we love you!
