So Long Old Friend...

Well it happened, Blazer fought the good fight. Grant has had the same car since he was in college, he sold it when he moved overseas, and bought it back when he returned. He was a one car type of guy. But, Thursday night on the way home from work Grant's car overheated and the repair bill was more than the value of the car. (Not Grant's sentimental value, but the resale value.) So after much thought we decided it was time to say our good-byes to Blazer and get a new car.

Even at the dealership Grant said he was going to find what scrap yard Blazer was going to so he could get it back. But I think driving his new car around with cold AC in the Texas summer will heal his pain.

Emory's Current Favorite Things...

There are some new things that are Emory's current favorites. The one that I am most happy about is she is loving my old blue bunny blanket. My grandma made it for me when I was little and now it is hers.
And of course dancing!!

Another is Grant's old hat. She always puts it on backwards and will just wear it around the house, if we take it in the car she will hug it while in her carseat. I am sure it reminds her of daddy and that's why she loves it so much!
Her new favorite activity is jumping on the couch. She will push us off the couch first so that she can jump without us getting in her way. At the end of the video she bites her tongue, but no worries she went right back to jumping!

Take me out to the ball game...

My friend Kristi had the great idea of getting her husband and son Rough Riders tickets for father's day and she asked if Grant and Emmy would want to go along. We were all a little nervous about the 7pm start time and the heat for our toddlers, but they did great! Matt and Grant decided to get the kids a snack to keep them cool, dip-n-dots of course!! Emmy was in heaven.
Such a lady!"Oh, there is a baseball game going on!?!"
The only picture with both kids, I think its so funny. Emmy eating away while Carson runs around. Typical. Thanks daddy for taking Emmy to her first baseball game, and maybe more importantly giving Emmy her first dip-n-dots!

Music Camp!!!

I was so glad that we had music camp last week, something to do in our endless summer! Emory had a wonderful time and we cannot wait for it to start again in the fall. On the last day of music camp there was a carnival, including a petting zoo!!

Emory walked up to this girl and wanted to hold her hands. The other girl thought she wanted to play ring around the rosey and started to spin her around. I don't think Emory knew what she was getting into. The other girl in the background joined in too and Emory just let go.
Emory was so happy that one of the stations was bubbles, these kids go crazy for bubbles!!

Another music room with instruments.
And yes, the petting zoo. Emory was squealing to be so close to animals. She did very well and was not scared to pat the bunnies (they were the slowest!).
What a good little girl!

Keepin Emory Busy...

This summer Emory and I are trying to keep busy with some new things. We meet our friends Angela and Abi at the Children's Museum one day last week. There are so many things for kids to do, but we were mainly in the 0-2 year old room. Emmy was not being the most cooperative and Abi still prefers to crawl so that was our safe spot.
The girls loved climbing on the foam pieces!
Peeking over the wall to see what the big kids were doing.
Emory and Abi planning their escape...

We also went to the neighborhood splash park with Angela and Abi. Emory ran around and Abi was mobbed by some older girls, overall a good trip. Definitely a spot to go back to this summer!

Daddy's Like Loud Noises and Shiney Things...

Last weekend I wanted to go to Toys r us and get Emory a water play table that was on sale. I found it, put it in the cart and was set to go. But apparently daddy and Emory had some different ideas. We let Emory run around Toys r us and play with all their toys, and this time something else caught her eye. A cozy coupe, not the cute pink girly one that would be appropriate for our daughter, not the gender neutral one, but the fire rescue car with a siren. I totally got tag teamed and we ended up with a rescue car instead of the water table! Couldn't wait to get it put together, it was a bad idea to try this all before nap time. Emory would not leave it alone! The finished product, minus the fancy stickers."Roger that, I'm on my way! Over and out."

Here is what my house sounds like now.

On a random side note I wanted to give myself a pat on the back and show off some craftiness. I made Emory's little sundress!! Totally saw it on Martha Stewart.

Happy 18 Months!!!

What an amazing little girl we have! So happy and SO busy. Emory is now running, dancing, climbing, sliding, and of course, sometimes pouting. That is enough to keep a mommy busy! She is learning new words all the time- daddy taught her "uh-oh" and "dirt" this weekend.
Thanks to aunt Jenny for making Emory laugh, she was even signing for Jenny to do it some "more."
Another trip to the Arboretum, how fortunate are we to live close to such a beautiful place.
Here's the softer side of Emory, she is becoming more dependent on mommy "saving" her from strangers...
