Happy 10 Month Birthday!!!

Emory is just more and more fun ever day. She is constantly amazing us with how fast she starts doing things we didn't think she could do. She is exploring our house (still doing her army crawl) and she really likes to try and find mommy and daddy if one of us is in a different room. I LOVE her saying ma-ma and I am sure da-da will be along soon for Grant. Emory has started to laugh when she hears us laugh, which is so funny. She has tried so much food now but her current favorite is cheese.

For this month's pictures, Emory is wearing a dress that was her Nanny Dess'. Of course a game of peek-a-boo started soon after the picture taking did.Emory and I take a music class every Wednesday morning and she really likes it. She is one of the most vocal babies in the class and loves to dance around. We are very lucky to have our friend Carson and his mom in the class with us, last week we decided to take some pictures after class.

Here is what the class is like for Kristi and Carson... Carson is constantly running around, he is such a busy boy!

The kids sharing...

Emory normally crashes after her music class, as you can see.

We took Emory to a little pumpkin patch by our house this weekend. It was still way too hot and she didn't understand what hay was which distracted her while we were there. I am sure we will go back once it's a little cooler.

Weekend with Grandpa and Grandma...

This weekend Grandpa and Grandma Zimmerman came down for a visit and Emory had a great time. Emory is much more active and vocal than the last time Grandpa and Grandma saw her. We had a fun weekend with stroller rides, reading books, playing peek-a-boo and talking to everyone. Emory now says ba-ba and as of Saturday night we have MA-MA! Grandpa's mustache was VERY interesting during this trip.
Grant and I ran an errand on Saturday leaving the grandparents and uncle Ryan and aunt Jenny to watch Emory. I guess things got out of control and somehow Emory ended up with a mohawk...
"I don't think this works for me..."

"I look great!"
We had another hair mishap on the slide at the park. Emory was really excited about the slide!
Grandpa and Grandma brought Emory a tree swing for our back yard, needless to say she LOVES it. We have been outside every night since and she throws a mini-fit when we take her out. Here is how she looks while swinging...
"Grandpa, let me out. I want to swing more please!"Emory is such a little giggle box. Recently she enjoys playing "catch" which involves us giving her the ball and her pushing it away. So fun!

This is a video of when Emory started talking. Let's just say she has the ba-ba down. There is a complete disregard when Grant tried to through a Da-Da in there, she just kept on ba-ba-ing.

Lots of Change Going on...

To say that our little baby is growing up is an understatement. She is getting so big and so busy that it seems like she is different daily. Emory is now in her "big girl" car seat (but still facing backwards).
"Ready for take off!"
We put her in the chair in the living room to make sure the straps would fit before getting it all set in the car.
Emory has started to watch more VeggieTales and some baby Einstein movies. She still has a short attention span, but I thought she looked so funny reclining back, watching her show. Just like daddy!
She has been very busy this past week increasing her independence. On Thursday, Emory sat up all by herself with out pulling on anything to help her, then Saturday morning she was standing in her crib waiting for us to get her.
Here is Emory bringing me the magazine she was tearing to pieces.
Emory has learned to say hi to people, cars, pets, almost anything, but in this video she is talking to the cars. The bad news is it sounds NOTHING like hi and no one knows that is what she is doing. Dad and Mom have to tell people what she is saying, and if people don't talk back to her she keeps doing it over and over. So if you see us out, please say hi to our daughter.

The family went to the park on Saturday and Grant got to show Emory how to go down all the slides. We were so lucky that uncle Ryan and aunt Jenny got to stop by and help Emory swing.
Jaypa and Nanny Dess are in Hawaii and sent Emory a postcard. Apparently she thought it was funny. Someone should tell her it's upside down.

A Walk In the Park...

The weather has FINALLY started to cool off so that the mornings are pleasant. Emmy hasn't gotten much outdoor time in her life just because it was too cold when she was born then when she could handle being outside it was obnoxiously hot here in Texas. All that to say, finally we went to the park and it was wonderful.
"Mom, are you sure about this?"
"Whee!"

Next time we will have to take daddy with us!

Lazy Weekend...

Not much going on for the Dess Family this weekend, just plenty of time for Emory to play with Grant. They are so silly together it makes me excited to think of when she gets older and she can really play games with him. We saw some friends this weekend and got to spend time with uncle Ryan and aunt Jenny. Just playing around!
Emory has been making this funny noise lately, it's like she is laughing through her nose. Hilarious!

We are still working on crawling on her knees. Emory gets around so well just using her arms that it's tough to teach her to use her legs. But she is starting to figure it out. I call this the shimmy shake.

9 Months Old!!!

I think this past month should be called Busy Bee month because our little baby has turned into such an active and curious baby. She yells when we take things away that she wants but can't have and she makes the funniest noise when we see people and they don't acknowledge her quick enough, which is wonderful at the mall when there are so many people to say hello to her. She is still doing her army crawl, but we are trying to encourage the real way to crawl. She still sleeps about 10 hours a night with 2 naps during the day.

Time to snack on her toes!
If you could see this picture closer, you would see her second tooth that came in Tuesday.
Emory had her 9 month check up on Thursday and things went great. It's so different now that she kicks and slams her legs down on the scale, the nurse had to be patient for Emory to sit still.
Emory weighed 18 lbs 14 oz (50%) and her length was 29 1/4 in (95%). We got the go ahead to give her almost anything to eat that is soft. For some reason Grant and I got very excited about this and thought about Thanksgiving and how she could really eat dinner. Mmmmm, turkey and mashed potatoes.
We went out to dinner Thursday night with our friends Donald, Angela and Abi. Of course the girls wanted to sit together!
When we were taking Emory's 9 month pictures, a game of peek-a-boo started. She is so proud of herself when we see her.

Happy Labor Day...

Because of the Labor Day holiday, Grant had a four day weekend. Emory was so happy to have her daddy around that much, especially because Grant lets her stay in her pajamas as much as possible. We had a very relaxing weekend with lots of naps for the whole family and eating good food. Emory also got to see her uncle Ryan and aunt Jenny when we all went to eat dinner.

Emory got this dress from her Jaypa and Nanny Dess. She likes to play peek-a-boo with it!

Upside down Emory...
Grandpa and Grandma Zimmerman went to Alaska this past week and sent Emory a post card. She thought it was so much fun and we talked to her about penguins and polar bears. Hope you guys had a ton of fun!

Emory loves veggie tales, well at least the introduction when they are singing, after that she loses all interest.

Emory has added more food to her menu lately, she now eats yogurt, cheese, real blueberries, still loves cheerios and she had chicken last night. We have not revisited the bananas.
