Missing Daddy...

On Monday, Grant went to Kansas City for work. And yes it was just for one night but Emmy really missed seeing her daddy. This was me and Emmy's first night alone and everything went well. When she got up today I told her daddy would be home today and she was SO happy. Emmy just lights up to see her daddy and I can't wait to have him home either.

Thanks for the new outfit Nanny! I can't wait to show my daddy how cute I am.

Yummy!!!

It's rice cereal time!! We get excited over the strangest things since having Emmy. This week we started to feed Emmy rice cereal, and it has been going well. She started by sucking on the spoon and now opens her mouth when the spoon is close.

So unimpressed...

Here is the next night of rice cereal, it looked like Emmy liked it more this night.

What happens after you smear rice cereal all over your face? A bath of course!!

As mentioned before Emmy is really enjoying her feet. On Friday morning Grant went in to get her out of her crib and noticed her the feet of her pajamas were wet. Which can only mean one thing...
She can now put her toes into her mouth! We are so proud.

Emmy would like you to meet...

HER FEET!!
Emmy is very entertained with her feet and keeps busy with trying to grab them. Lately she has been trying to put them in her mouth, but she hasn't gotten there yet. It has been so fun to watch her see her feet, then grab her knees and now get her feet. On Thursday, I took Emmy to the Cooley's house. This picture just about sums things up. Emmy is in the purple pants, Carson is sitting in the middle and Jacob is in the brown outfit on the right. Carson is crying in the picture but that is VERY atypical for him. At one point, Emmy was laying there looking at Carson crying and then she just started crying. She is our little sympathetic baby. Here is a video of Emmy rolling. She was on a roll strike for a while and refused to roll over for us, but she is back again.

Donald and Angela (and Abi) came over for dinner Sunday night and Emmy was very comfortable laying by Abi. I guess Emmy wanted to talk to Abi about what the outside world was like.
"Trust me Abi, your parents are so fun!"
We saved the best video for last. Saturday night we went to Uncle Ryan's and Aunt Jenny's house for dinner. Emmy loves being tossed into the air and this was the most we have heard her giggle. It was so sweet to watch!!

Grandma Zimmerman Visit...

This past weekend, Grandma Zimmerman came to visit. Emmy loved having her here to play with. Grandma enjoyed pushing Emmy around in her stroller and reading her stories. Emmy was the center of everyone's attention. What did we do before there was a baby to play with?Someone was very excited to have her grandma, uncle and aunt to entertain her. We call this phase "crazy eyes" and obviously it's when she gets super happy. Here is Emmy and Grandma on Sunday going to church. Emmy likes to sit in her bumbo and play with toys, especially her glow worm which makes her smile every time she sees it. As you can see, she also likes to snack on it.Here is a video of our little girl in her swing and letting everyone know just how much she likes it. Sometimes we can't tell if all her noises are happy but then she just smiles.

Happy Little Baby!!!

Not much has been going on this week around the Dess house. Wednesday we went to the Cooley's new house and played with Carson and Jacob. Emory was very glad to see her friends. Other than that we have been busy getting ready for Grandma Zimmerman's visit this weekend.
Since finding her thumbs Emory wants to make sure they stay in her mouth. She has started holding onto her hand to make sure that thumb doesn't go anywhere. Silly baby!!
Here is a picture of Emory's favorite thing to look at. We thought everyone should see exactly what is making her so happy in the video.

Happy 4 Month Birthday!!!

Our little lady is 4 months old! We are absolutely head over heels in love with Emory. It's amazing how one day and a 7 pound, 4 ounce little girl can change everything. Her smile makes us happy like we never knew possible.

Hard to believe that she weighs twice as much as when she was born. She looks so big in her rocking chair.

Emory spent her 4 month birthday playing in her jumperoo, smiling at all her toys, and taking a walk with her uncle Ryan and aunt Jenny.

We bought Emory a play tray for her bumbo which is fantastic! We can put toys on there and she grabs them. Chelle jokes that it looks like she is in school already.

4 Month Check Up...

We went to the doctor yesterday for Emory's 4 month appointment and she got an A+. She now weighs 14 lbs and 15 ounces which puts her in the 77 percentile for weight, but we were surprised that she is now 25 3/4 inches long which is the 95 percentile!! Unfortunately Emory did have to get more shots but she handled those like a champ. She gets to start trying real food in about a month. Yummy! We are fortunate that Grant is able to come to the doctor with us.

Here is our little couch potato sleeping off the shots.

Of course we have to put pictures on the blog of Emory all dressed up in her tutu. She is just adorable!! The bottom picture is the face she makes while laughing, so funny.
